1. Starting Position: Begin in a crouched stance with one foot slightly forward and your hands ready for balance. Your head should be slightly lowered, and your chin tucked towards your chest to protect your neck.
2. Extend One Arm: Reach one arm forward, palm facing down towards the mat. This hand will guide your roll. The other arm should be close to your body, ready to assist in maintaining balance.
3. Tuck Your Chin: Keep your chin tucked to ensure you roll over your shoulder rather than your head. This helps prevent injury to your neck and spine.
4. Initiate the Roll: Push off with your back leg and lower your lead shoulder towards the mat. As you do this, allow your body to follow the momentum, tucking into a ball shape.
5. Roll Over Your Shoulder: Roll forward over the shoulder of your extended arm, keeping your body compact. Avoid rolling directly over your head; instead, your roll should travel diagonally across your back, from one shoulder to the opposite hip.
